Connectivity Issue - Miami
Incident Report for Linode
Postmortem

On 26 April, 2024 at approximately 01:43 UTC, customers experienced 20-50% packet loss during a third party scheduled maintenance event. Our network team suspended routes through the Miami data center in anticipation of the maintenance event resulting in a 70% drop in traffic throughout the entire Miami data center.

To restore operational connectivity, the network team unsuspended the previously suspended routes. This action was conducted at approximately 03:00 UTC on 26 April, 2024. The result was the restoration of connectivity throughout the Miami data center.

In an effort to prevent this incident from reoccurring our network team has tweaked our internal safety checks/process for future third party maintenance.
